: Theodore Sorensen, speech writer to President Kennedy

Theodore Sorensen, speech writer to President Kennedy

May 02, 1966 - Theodore Sorenson, the closest friend and colleague of the late US president John Kennedy, arrives this weekend in Munich. He is coming to the Bavarian capital for the German release of his book. Therein, Ted, as Kennedy called him, depicts, along general lines, his work together with the president, whom he had been with for over fifteen years. He speaks candidly of his unfettered admiration for the chief. He began to work with the president while Kennedy was a senator, and, as his closest friend, moved to the White House. Sorenson wrote Kennedy's numerous speeches, which were personally edited, refined, expanded, slashed, and even thrown out by the president. He represented the president at various functions, rending the signature of the president. Theodore Sorenson, pictured here with his wife during their Munich trip, will speak in the American House in Munich about The Kennedy Legacy
