June 12, 1925 - London, England, U.K. - THOMAS HARDY was born on June 2nd, 1840 in Higher Bockhampton. In1853, Hardy's education became intensive, he studied Latin, French and began reading widely. In 1856, Hardy met and studied with Horace Moule, going through the Greek dramatists under his tutelage. In 1862 he travelled to London to work under A. Blomfield. While finding his way in London he attended the Exhibition. He explored the cultural life of London and began writing poetry in earnest. Hardy publishes his first article in 1865, How I Built Myself a House
