Tom Mboya speaks at Kanu Rally, Nairobi, Kenya

May 05, 1966 - Kanu Rally in Nairobi.: Thousands of Kanu (Kenya African National Union) supporters listened in silence as the party's secretary-general and Minister for Economic Planning and Development, Mr. Mboya, claimed at a Nairobi rally on Saturday that there was a conspiracy to overthrown Mr. Kenyatta's Government. Earlier speakers faced a barrage of heckling from supporters of the Kenya People's Union. Mr. Mboya referred to the tragic events in Africa during the past few months with military coups in a number of States and in some countries leaders being assassinated. Mr. Mboya was speaking at a rally in Ofafa-Lumumba to introduce the Kanu candidate for Nairobi East in the forthcoming little general election'. Photo shows Mr. Mboya speaking at the Kanu Rally
