Topol, star of Fiddler on the Roof on stage and screen
Nov. 11, 1971 - Topol fiddles again, this time on celluloid. This versatile Israeli actor became famous in the US and the UK as the original interpreter of Tewje, better known as The Fiddler on the Roof which he first played on Broadway and later in London at Her Majesty's Theatre with enormous success. The popular musical whose tunes are still being sung, hummed, whistled or played, will doubtlessly turn thus relatively young actor into an international star when the film is released. The West German premiere is fixed for 19th December in Hamburg
