1962 - The World's Highest Travelling Tower Crane Goes Into Action. A travelling building crane claimed to be the highest travelling crane in the world was on show giving a demonstration before beginning work helping to build three 18-storey blocks at Maida Vale, West London. It was built by a French company and can lift weights of up to 10 tons.
