May 05, 1954 - Roger Bannister Does It:- Runs Mile in Under Four Minutes - Britaim's Roger Bannister has done it. Last night be ran the fabulous four-minute mile, a feat which thw world's athletes have been trying to achive for years. His time was three minutes 59.4 seconds, As he passod the post at Oxford's Iffley road break he was exept up in a mass of cheering, shouting spectators.
