Feb. 29 The Amazing Mathias wins the Olympic Decathlon for: Robert Mathias, of the United States won the Decathlon and shattered his own world record for this supreme test of all round athletic prowes. He is only 21. His points total was 7, 887 an Olympic record under the new Points scoring system for the event. With this win the United States gets its 13th. Gold Medal in the track and field events
