Track And Field - Decathlon - Javelin

May 05, 1964 - Fantastic sprint by young Briton.: Last monday night, 19-year-old Andy Ronay, a pupil of Chiswick Grammar School, and his classmate H.Frith, ran a fantastic race to complete the 100 metres in 10.2 secs - only 1/5 sec outside the world record, and 1/10 sec faster than the U.K. All-Comers record set up 16 years ago by American Harrison Willard in the London Olympus. Unfortunately, although the wind was just inside the prescribed limit, there was only one Grade 1 timekeeper present, although five watches agreed on the time, so this great effort cannot stand as a record. Photo shows Andy Ronay before taking part in an race at Kwell last night
