Britain's top throwers, husband and wife athletes Howard and Rosemary Payne who are both likely to go to Tokyo for Olympics in October, are faced with plenty of problems as they carry out their training programme, for they both have full-time jobs during the day, and in addition they have their twin sons Andrew and Russell, aged 3½, to look after. Mother Rosemary, who last week threw the discus further than any other British woman this season, is a lecturer at Birmingham College of Technology, and when she finishes each day, she collects the boys form their nursery school, then she picks up husband Howard who lectures at Birmingham University, and who Britain;s top hammer thrower, and they go straight to the University athletics track to train, while the children have to amuse themselves.
