Aug. 08, 1964 - Anne Gets Ready For Tokyo. Entry In The 800 Metres Event: Attractive Twenty two year old sprinter Anne Smith daughter of a London newspaper Lintype operator and who teaches at the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Hammersmith - is now in training for her visit to Tokyo as a member of the British Athletic Team. Anne who is tompete in the 800 metres event says she owes her success to the one and only former world champion Gordon Pirie who trained her. Gordons spends a lot of his time coaching Anne at the Pirie home at Redhill. Included in Anne's pupils are some Japanese children - so Anne should have a chance to pick up a few words of the language before she leaves on September 27th.
