Aug. 08, 1964 - Anne Gets Ready for Tokyo. Entry in the 800 meters Event: Attractive twenty two year old sprinter Anne Smith daughter of a London newspaper linotype operator and who teaches at Convent of the Sacred Heart in Hammersmith - is now in training for her visit to Tokyo as a member in the 800 Matres event says she owes her success to the one ad only Gordon Pirie - former world record holder who trained her. Gordon spends a lot of his time - coaching Anne of the Pirie home at Redhill. Included in Anne's pupils are some Japanese children so Anne should have a chance of picking up a little of the labguage before she leaves on September 27th.
