Aug. 08, 1966 - Kenya Athletes Given Big Welcome on Return Home: A triumphant welcome was accorded to the Kenyan Team from the Commonwealth Games in Jamaica, when they returned home yesterday. There were jubilant scenes drove through the streets of Nairobi from Nairobi Airport. At the airport hundred of Africans cheered and danced madly as Kipchoge Keino, Wilson Kiprugut and Naftali Tamu stepped from the air craft. Whilst in London on Saturday, Keino broke the U.K. All Comers records for Mile, at the White City.
