Aug. 08, 1967 - The Big Dig bank holiday competition for £60, 000 worth of prizes at Camber Sands.: Today 100 winners of a Gillette Super Silver competition were taking part in a Big Dig contest at Camber Sands, near Rye, in Sussex, to find £6, 000 Silver Maserati Mistral, to a racing pigeon. Each contestant, accompanied by an assistant of their own choice, were issued with shovels, and allocated by ballot, plots to dig on the two acres of sand where the prizes had been buried last. Each plot contained either two or three prizes.
