Australian athlete Ron Clarke, who on Saturday became the first man to break 13 minutes for the three miles, (12 mins. 52.4secs), yesterday went to the Withdean Stadium in Brighton where he had planned to collect another world record. His target yesterday was Bill Baillie's record of 12 miles, 960 yards and seven inches for a one-hour run. But a cloudburst had made the track so wet as to make the attempt impossible.
