Sep. 09, 1971 - DAVE BEDFORD WINS THE 3, 000 METRES STEEPLECHASE IN RECORD TIME AT CRYSTAL PALACE. DAVE BEDFORD the 21 year-old European 5, 000 and 10, 000 metre record holder won the 3, 000 metres steeplechase in the Coca-Cola athletics meeting at Crystal Palace last night, smashing the United Kingdom record by more than two seconds with a time of 8 mins 28, 6sec. Thus was only his second 3, 000 metre steeplechase.
