Sep. 09, 1971 - New 24-Hour Relay Record: Ten of the Torbay Amateur Athletic Club best athletes made a successful bid to break the world record for a 24 hour relay marathon, at Torre Valley North ground, Torquay. The record was previously held by the Atomic City Track Club of America with a distance of 272 miles. It was broken by Torbay with a run of 277 miles.
