Jul. 07, 1971 - David Bedford fails in his attempt at the World 5, 000-Metre Record at Crystal Palace: The brash and outspoken runner David Bedford failed in his attempt to break the world 5, 000-metre record at the Amateur Athletic Association meeting at Crystal Palace today. Bedford pulled out of the race on the eight lap after it seemed he had injured the hamstring in his right leg.
