Oct. 10, 1972 - Blind Man As Marathon Runner: Blind Werner Rathert (left) will participate in the German marathon championships, which take place on 21.10. in Dudenhofen/Pfalz (West-Germany). This 37 year old who will be running the marathon distance for the first time in two years, has trained hard for a year with friends. As they ran too slowly for him, he allowed them to go by bicycle. Before the race in Dudenhofen, he will train with his fellow member from the Dortmund sport club, Peter Middel, the self-taught long-distance runner.
