Dec. 12, 1973 - Go curling.. This relatively new type of sport has found within short time lots of friends in Germany mainly in the Southern region of the country, even more so since the World Championship in curling took place in Garmisch, Bavaria in 1972. Today there are more than 500 members who practice curling intensively organized in 17 German clubs. Most of them exist in Bavaria. A curling team is made up of four members playing on a 42 meter long ice course and the curling stones are genuine stones cut out of granite weighing 16 to 20 kilograms. To top it off, the curling players may even use a broom to smoother the ice-sheet if advantageous
