Jul. 14, 1981 - Ben Plucknett World Discus Record Holder gets life Ban: Ben Plucknett, the 27-year-old world discus record holder, and a former night club bouncer from California, has been banned following a positive dope test after the Pacific Conference Games in New Zealand last January. The ban has been backdated so the 6ft. 7in. 22 stone Plucknett loses the world record of 237ft 4in he set up in Stockholm last week.
