Aug. 08, 1980 - New Zealander Lorraine Mollor Wins the London Marathon. Lorraine Mollor of New Zealand, was the surprise winner of the Avon International Women's Marathon in London yesterday in only her second race at the distance. She won in 2 hours 35 mins 11 secs. The 25 year old schoolteacher beat about 250 runners over a 26.2 mile route starting from Battersea Park to the finish at Guildhall in the city of London. OPS: Lorraine Mollor comes in to win the marathon well in front of the field
