Aug. 08, 1979 - Sebastian Coe Smashes the World 1500 Metres Record in Zurich:For the third time in 41 days 22 year old Sebastian Coe broke a world record, in Zurich last night he beat an International field by 70 yards for a for 3mins 32.03 sec to olip almost a fifth of a second off the old record set by Tanzania's Filbert Bayl five years ago. He already holds the world records for the 800 metres, and the one mile. No Man in History has ever held all three records Simultaneously until now.
