Jul. 31, 1980 - Women?s International Marathon through the streets of London ? On Sunday Aug. 3rd, the Avon Cosmetics International Marathon, the annual world championship for women distance runners at the 26.2 mile distance. And for the first time over the streets of Central London will be closed for this sporting event. Top women athletics from more than 30 countries will be taking part. This championship is also the single most important event in the push to get the women marathon added to the 1984 Olympic Games. At present women are only allowed to run up to the 150cm in Moscow.
