Two training sailing ships of the Portuguese navy

Aug. 08, 1960 - RAF Joins In Portuguese Naval Celebrations: Three RAF Shackleton long range maritime reconnaissance aircraft flew overhead yesterday (Sunday Aug 7) as warships from many maritime powers passed in review past the promontory of Sagres in the Bay of Lagos in Portugal during celebrations to commemorate the 5th century of the death of Prince Henry the Navigator. The Shackletons were from No.224 Squadron (Wing Commander B. Lewis DFC) based at Gibraltar. The RAF was represented at the ceremonies by the AOC in Chief, RAF Coastal Command, Air Marshal Sir Edward Chilton, who is also NATO Air Commander in Chief, Eastern Atlantic. Prince Henry was born in 1394 and is known as the founder of Portuguese maritime power. Photo shows two training sailing ships in stately procession in the Bay of Lagos, Algarve, Portugal.
