Trying cigarettes made from lettuce, London
Feb. 02, 1967 - Cigarettes Made From Lettuce On Sale In London: Nicotine-free cigarettes, made from lettuce, went on sale today at the Tesco supermarket in Brixton South London. The cigarettes, imported from America sell at 2s.9d for twenty king-size filter tips. Called Bravas - they are made in a new factory in Hereford, Texas, from a variety of lettuce called Lactuca Sativa'. The lettuce cigarettes were first marketed by a Turkish inventor, Mr. Puzant Torigian. Mr. Edward Goolnik, from Highgate, who markets them here, thinks will soon be on sale all over the country.
