Tunku Laksamana Munir, ruler of Negri Sembilan, Malaya
1960 - He Succeeds His Father as Ruler of the State of Negri Sembilan. Following the death of Tunku Sir Abdel Rahman, the Yang di Pertuan Agong (Head of State) of Malaya eldest son Tunku Laksamana Munir (38) was proclaimed ruler of the state after election by four of the leading chiefs. He takes on the title of Yang di Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan. The Yang di Pertuan Agong held his office through election by the rulers of the Malay States making up the Federation of Malaya and the rulers are to meet soon to choose his successor.
