Jan. 01, 1956 - Turks in Cyprus hold Protest Demonstration in Nicosia following Murder of Policeman: Turks carrying their National flag and shouting Volcan (the Turkish Eoka) formed up in Ataturk square, Nicosia and held a demonstration parade following the murder of a Turkish policeman outside his home in Paphos. Greek shops were broken into and rioting broke out in many places. Photo Shows The Turks start off on their demonstration parade through the streets on Nicosia
