Twin Cities beauty queens in London with Mayor

Jun. 06, 1969 - Twin Cities beauty Queens in London: Beauty queens from the United States Twin Cities, of Minneapolis and St. Paul Minnesota, have arrived in London. Miss Janet Johnson, 22 Minneapolis, Aquatennial Queen of the Lakes, was chosen from 40 of Minnesota's loveliest young women to reign over the city's July Aquatennial. Miss Mary Louise LeFond, 19, St. Paul's Queen of Snows, was chosen from 21 other beauties to reign over St. Paul's 10-day Winter Carnival last winter. The new queens have come to London to publicise the first single plane air service linking their mid-Northwestern cities with Europe. Among their London activities was this afternoons visit to the Lord Mayor of Westminster to whom they presented letters from their respective mayors. Photo shows the Lord Mayor of Westminster Leonard Pearl, pictured at the Westminster City Hall today, exchanging gifts with Miss Janet Johnson(left), Minneapolis, Aquatennial Queen of the lakes, and Miss Louise LeFond (right), St. Paul's Queen of Snows
