Nov. 11, 1957 - Lloyd's new building to be opened by the Queen Mother. Underwriting room measures 340 ft. by 120 ft.: Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother is to perform the ceremony of opening the new building for Lloyd's of London - in Lime Street, in Thursday 14th. November. The building occupies a rectangular site e extended between Lime Street and Billiter street. The Room gallery is supported by pillard leaving an open central are roofed with glass. Faciings throughout the room are in marble - and it has rubber floors. The famous Lucine Bell has been installed on the rostrm - in the Underwriting Room.
