Sep. 09, 1976 - All-Out Strike By The Seamen: Britain's 38, 000 merchant Seamen are to go on strike from midnight on Saturday in support of a pay claim which, if conceded, would breach the strict Government - TUC wage-rise guildlines. All cross-channel and short-sea vessels crewed by union members will be affected immediately the strike starts. Men in deep-sea vessels including passenger ships, tankers, bulk carries and contains ships-will ban overtime if they are at sea or at foreign ports and will go on strike when they reach home ports.
