Mar. 03, 1977 - Back to Work or Be Sacked at Leylands - In an ultimatum backed by the Goverment and the Confederation of Shipbuilders and Engineering unions, the 3, 000 tooimagers on strike at British Layland werre told by the company's management yesterday they would be regarded as having backed themselves. But the stike leaders remain defiant, And have called for support from other skilled workers inside and outside of Leyland. Leyland's will open all it's plants on Monday morning and even if all the Tool room strikers do not return it is hoped to re-start production. More than 40, 000 Layland workers have been laid off because of the dispute.
