Mar. 03, 1953 - N. A. T. O. Opens Mediterranean Headquarters. Britain's famed Mediterranean base of Malta has now become an Allied headquarters. At Lascaria on the island which withstood so much Axis blitzing in the last war, a N. A. T. O. headquarters has been set up.
