Mar. 03, 1953 - N. A. T. O. Opens Mediterranean Headquarters. Britain's famed Mediterranean base of Malta has now become an Allied headquarters. At Lascaria on the island which withstood so much Axis blitzing in the last war, a N. A. T. O. headquarters has been set up. Picture shows:- Allied officers salute as their flags are unfurled at the new N.A.T.O. Headquarters at Lasceris, Malta. N.A.T.O. Commander-in-Chief, Mediterranean.
