Feb. 12, 1953 - Convey Passes First Big Test: Fresh troops took up position on Convey Ireland's battered sea walls today as the 17-ft high spring tide started to flow up thew Thames Estuary. Trey took the place of the night patrols which had started the new flood protection system. Engineer and Service chiefs in charge of the ration had 300 front line men manning the sea defences and another 1, 00 troops in reserve ready to be flung into any sector if a breach occurred.
