Oct. 10, 1952 - Bubble bathers halt the traffic in Birmingham: Bubbles burst against the nearby windows of the lord Mayor's perlour, bus and car drives switch on their wind-screen wipers to clear them of flying froth, more than a thousand astonished people block the road and traffic slows down as four young men in swimming trunks take a foam bath in the Memorial Fountain, chamberlain Square, Birmingham. Buckets of commercial detergent had been poured into the fountain by university students as a prelude to their annual charity carnival. photo shows The bubble bathers are called from the fountain and their names are taken by a policeman after the incident in Birmingham yesterday
