Oct. 10, 1953 - Petrol strike threatens to Halt London: Empty petrol tanks and austerity meat rations face London and the Home Counties this week-end as the result of two strikes. London, for all practical purposes is without petrol supplies today, said an A.A. official early this morning. Food Transport and delivery services will stop in the next few days unless the unofficial strike of 6, 000 petrol tanker drivers ends. Photo shows this No Petrol sign at a Woodford garage can be seen in many garages around London this morning
