Aug. 08, 1954 - British Troops leave Egypt: About 2, 000 British troops left the Suez Canal Zone yesterday as Egypt announced that the Angle-Egyptian committees have nearly completed work on an evacuation agreement. Men of the Royal Marine Commando units left Port Said, in the cruiser Glasgow for Malta. And men of the 1st Bn. the South Lancashire Regiment, the 2nd. Bn. the Parachite Regt. embarked for Britain.
