Feb. 02, 1953 - Navy blows up the flood walls. Draining the marshlands at Isle of Sheppey.: Three hundred men of the Royal Navy were busy this afternoon blasting gaps in the sea wall on either side of Kingsferry Bridge to drain the flooded marshland. Photo shows the scene as one of the charges goes off during the blasting of the sea wall to the right of Kingsferry Bridge on the Isle of Sheppey today
