May 05, 1954 - New Seven-Foot High Street Guide To London Unveiled: Alderman G.E. Earlebach, Chairman of the City Streets Committee - this morning performed the ceremony of unveiling the first of fifty - seven foot high Guides to London - on the pavement opposite St. Paul's Cathedral. The Guide boards are to be placed at points throughout London - and at the turn of a handle cross reference maps unroll behind unbreakable glass. At the side of the maps are lists of 3, 000 shops, business houses etc. and a list of 4, 500 streets. The guide is the work of Norwegian Lars Ringdal of Oslo.
