1953 - Troops arrive in Kenya. Ready to combat the Mau Mau: Royal Air Force Transport Command Hestings Aircraft landed at Bastleight Airport, Nairobi recently with men of the 38th. Brigade Headquarters Staff on board. The air lift is continuing for about a week - taking approx 200 men a day to Kenya to combat the dreaded Mau Mau menace.Photo shows the first detachment seen on arrival at Bastleigh Airport. They are to travel on to their new camps at Nakuru Molo and Thompson Falls. The party was greeted with a gift of 1, 400 bottles of beer from loos brewery
