Jul. 07, 1953 - Egyptian Crisis over Kidnapped London Airman. L.A.C. Rigden. A sharp new crisis blew up sudden between Britain and Egypt. In Ismalia, the British Military base in the canal Zone, and in Cairo, the situation is tense. It follows the kidnapping by Egyptians last Friday of a British airman L.A.C. Rigden A.V.the British Authorities gave the Egyptians until 9 a, m. yesterday to return him - and he was not given. Paratroopers of the 16th. Airborne Division clamped down stringent traffic controls in the area. Roadblocks were manned and heavy machines guns were set up.
