It is also the smallest unit of its type yet to be developed. The patient is seen here wear in the Tunnicliffs Breathing Jacket, which in effect converted the massive iron lung into a lightweight fabric jacket - worn by the patient. The respirator is operated from power Mains, or, in emergency, from Batteries, and is so portable and flecible that a patient can be transported comfortably sitting in the back of the smallest car. The weight of the whole Breathing Machine is less than 80 lbs
