Jun. 06, 1956 - Byward Tower Rooms To Be Opened To Public: Two first floor rooms at the Byward Tower, Tower of London, will be opened to the public from Monday, July 2nd. The rooms contain the machinery for the Byward Tower portcullis and a fine 16th. century timber screen - but the most interesting features is a 15th. century mural painting of the crucifixion which was discovered in 1953.
