Aug. 08, 1956 - Man makes seaside hunt for wife.: Derek Clifford yesterday (Friday) appealed to 100, 000 holidaymakers at Blackpool, to help him find his wife, Sylvia, who vanished from their Canvey Island home a fortnight ago after a tiff. He says Sylvia walked out on him and their two young sons because he never appreciated her. In driving rain he marched along the Golden Mile behind a sandwich-board. On a pole above the board was a huge wedding picture of Derek and Sylvia and this appeal Have you seen this woman'. Their sons, Colin, aged 2 1/2 and Michael, aged 4 1/2 are being cared for by Derek's parents. Said Derek; I intend to stay here until I find her'. Photo shows Derek Clifford seen walking along beside the sandwich-board - during his search for his wife in Blackpool
