Jul. 07, 1957 - First Introduction In Britain of New Lawn Grass Demonstrated At The Waldorf Hotel. A revolutionary new lawn grass that will probably affect the whole aspect of British lawn making was shown at the Waldorf Hotel. It was the first introduction into Britain of the Emerald Velvet the new lawn grass which is not seeded but planted in root-offsets that quickly establish themselves. Once established, Emerald Velvet becomes densely packed, and drought, frost, and insect pests find it hard to attack. Old-time problems of re-sending scorched or bare patches vanish.
