Aug. 08, 1957 - The annual town criers championship at Hastings: Twenty-two Town Criers from all parts of the country gathered at the Seaside town of Hastings ti take part in the National Town Criers Championship, Norman Wisdom, the comedian, and Vera Lynn, the well known singer, and one-time Forces Sweetheart, were judges. Photo shows Ben Johnson, the Town Crier, of Fowsy, Cornwall, who has been a town Crier since 1936, who ha won the championship four times, seen as he gets in some practice before the start of the contest today
