Feb. 02, 1959 - Mother calls for baby she gave away: A year ago Kay Smith (3) was handed over to the Kent County Council after her parents Mr. and Mrs. Walter Smith of Ramagate had parted. Three year old Kay has lived with Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Newman at Caterham for a year and knows the she parents. Later the Smiths were reconciled and were granted a court order reclaiming the child. Yesterday she was collected from a very sad Mr. and Mrs. Newman. Photo shows Mr. Walter Smith carries a crying Kay Smith into his car when he took her home yesterday
