Aug. 12, 1958 - 12-8-58 Britain welcomes the Nautilus as she arrives in Portland Harbour The United States nuclear-powered submarine Nautilus arrived at Portland Harbour this afternoon, at the end of her voyage which took her under the North Pole. Thousands of holiday-makers gave a great cheer and ships sirens sounded a welcome as the submarine approached the harbour.
