Oct. 10, 1959 - Palace Sentries go behind the railing.: For the first time, the sentries at Buckingham Palace were this morning marching up and down behind the ralings of Buckingham Palace, instead of in front of them. The War Office ordered the change because the large number of tourists was beginning to herass the men. Photo shows The last of the outside sentry boxes - being takes in through the Palace gates this morning
