Oct. 21, 1959 - Caravan Village For The Parachute Regiment. They Call It A Paradise - Near Aldershot: Members of the Parachute Regiment, on which General Sir Richard Gale is colonel Commandant are purchasing luxury caravans by installments - from the army - to over come the acute shortage of married quarters. The village has been given the name of Pegasus Village - after he winged horse emblem of the Airborne Forces. By the end of there year the village, is expected to be almost a self contained community 40 caravans, with water electricity - a club room - children's nursery - grocery shop with launderette. Building from a discussed wartime hospital on the site provides accommadation for washing rooms - toilets - bathrooms - store sheds and for the nursery and club. There are already more than 20 famililies living in the village. The 1st. Bn. Parachute Regt, had the idea in the firs place - an the 3rd. Bn. has since joined in.
