Mar. 03, 1959 - Army Sergeant Has A Battle With His Wife Monty's Former Batman Wants Leave Ended: Sgt. Hugh Taylor, Field Marshal Montgomery's Batman in the desert in 1942-requested that his leave be ended-when he returned to Dover Garrison last night-because of a battle with his wife-14 stone Katie. When he ran out of their home in High Street, sandwich last night-his kitbag, crammed with souvenirs was hurled through the door-followed by his waterbottle-and his shins were hacked with-his rifle-which he dropped. Mrs. Taylor said the trouble started when Sgt. Taylor tried to treat her as a soldier-telling her she was dirty-and to clean her shoes etc. Photo shows. Sgt.
